What if I am looking for a full-time nanny?

I would never take a full-time nanny position on a permanent basis. During the first 3 years of a child's life, I strongly believe that only the PARENT can & should PARENT the child on a FULL-TIME basis, and hiring a full-time nanny is not in the best interest of the child(ren) or the nanny.

Parents should value the chance to share in their children's developmental accomplishments, along with the secure feeling of knowing their kids are being cared for by the most devoted of caregivers, something I don't believe they can get from any other kind of care.

In my 12 years experience working both in homes and in public & private schools, I have seen the difference in childrens' academics, behavior and over all sense of security, self-esteem & sense of self when they are raised by their parents, as opposed to having a full-time care giver.

It is alarming to me, just how many people contact me looking for a nanny for 1, sometimes 2 children under the age of 3 from 7am-7pm Monday through Friday. I know that some circumstances are beyond the mother's control (single-motherhood etc) but those are not the cases with those that contact me.

I hope that if you have read this far, and are considering a full-time nanny, you will re-evaluate why it is you chose to have children in the first place. I have been taking care of other families children for over 10 years and I cannot wait to have a child of my own to care for. Please consider your alternatives before hiring someone to raise your child.
